Concrete Testing

Concrete, tested to specification

Every structural pour, precast element, and pavement slab depends on verified compressive strength. We test fresh and hardened concrete - from slump and cube casting to core extraction and compressive strength analysis.

Our results support construction sign-off, structural verification, and mix design validation. Data is reported to SANS specification and can be submitted for tender documentation, municipal approval, or dispute resolution.

Accredited Methods

Each method below is covered under our SANAS scope. Test-specific requirements, sample sizes, and turnaround times available on request.

Fresh Concrete

  • SANS 5861-1 Sampling of fresh concrete
  • SANS 5861-3 Making and curing of test specimens
  • SANS 5862-1 Consistence of fresh concrete (slump test)

Compressive Strength

  • SANS 5863 Compressive strength of hardened concrete
  • SANS 5863 Cube crushing (150mm standard)
  • SANS 5863 Cylinder compressive strength

Field Testing

  • SANS 3001-NG5 In situ density (nuclear gauge)
  • SANS 5863 Core extraction and testing
  • SANS 5863 Rebound hammer (non-destructive)

Quality Control

  • SANS 5863 Statistical analysis of cube results
  • SANS 5863 Compliance verification to specification
  • SANS 5861-3 Curing regime verification

How It Works

Sample to signed report - typically within 7 to 14 working days depending on curing period and method.

01

Sample Submission

Deliver fresh concrete or hardened specimens to our Vereeniging lab. Include mix design and project reference.

02

Casting & Curing

Standard 150mm cubes cast and cured under controlled conditions for 7, 14, or 28-day compressive strength testing.

03

Testing

Cubes crushed to failure under SANS 5863. Results analysed against specification and design strength requirements.

04

Signed Report

PDF report issued with cube results, compliance statements, and signatory stamp. Suitable for tender and construction submission.
